Copy of March 2026 Running Update
March 2026 is in the books and it was a good running month with 100 total miles! That gives me a total of 268 miles run year to date - about 90 miles per month average. My overall goal for the year is to average 92 miles per month, so I'm on track to meet that number. I'm looking forward to April as I have a 10K race coming up mid-month. The OLOL Tiger 10K will be on April 19th and I'm hoping to improve on my last 10K run time during the Mardi Gras Mambo 10K! Are you intere

First picture is the onion rings appetizer - expertly battered and fried and banging remoulade sauce for dipping. Next picture is the fried fish entree - 4 fried shrimp, 3 fried catfish fillets, jalapeno hush puppies and french fries - just an amazing plate of food! And it cam

4th Continuing Education Class of 2026 - Baton Rouge Real Estate
I just completed a 2 hour continuing education class called 'Untying the Knot' that deals with all the real estate issues related to divorces and how a divorce can impact our real estate listings and sales. Needless to say, there was some very eye opening information delivered about divorces, separations & how separate property is handled under Louisiana law - but also super informative! This course was put on by Commerce Title and was taught by one of their real estate att

February 2026 Running Update
I finished up February 2026 with 68 running miles. Not great but not too bad It was an odd month. The weather didn't cooperate for a few days, I had my niece's wedding that disrupted a couple of days of running and there were about 4 days that I flat out was lazy and didn't run when I should have been out there:) Nonetheless, the year has started off quite strongly in terms of running with 168 total miles in the book! I'll take it and head into March ready to roll. Are you

Every calendar year, the Louisiana Real Estate Commission requires all licensed agents/brokers to complete 12 hours of continuing education. I completed a 2 hour, in-person class held at the Greater Baton Rouge Association of Realtors office this morning and the covered topic was Fair Housing. This 2 hour course is now required to completed every three years by the National Association of Realtors along with a 3 hour Ethics course. This is a good class and covers topics that

Lunch at Mestizos - 70808, February 2026!
Very special lunch today with my Dad as today would have been my parent's 61's wedding anniversary. We celebrated at Mestizos which was one of my mother's favorite restaurants! Pictured above is the queso with ground beef appetizer. This is my father's favorite lunch dish - the grilled redfish with rice and seasoned vegetables. My mother was a taco girl and she'd nearly always get some sort of a taco for lunch here. This is my go-to lunch dish! I order the a la carte bee

Dinner at Mestizos - 70808, January 2026!
Another great dinner at Mestizos Restaurant with some friends over the weekend! They were all heading out to the Spanish Town Mardi Gras Ball later on in the evening, but I met them for dinner and a margarita on their way downtown. Mestizo's is probably my very favorite restaurant in all of Baton Rouge. The food and margarita quality is second to none and the atmosphere in the restaurant just can't be beat! The ground beef queso and the beef/bean burrito with rice and bean

Mardi Gras Mambo 10K - Personal Best Time - 2026!
Every year - during Mardi Gras - the Mardi Gras Mambo 10K/15K is run. It's a super fun race that begins downtown, runs through the Garden District & part of Mid-City before finishing up back downtown. This year's race was pretty challenging from a weather perspective. The wind chill during the race was 15 degrees and the actual temperature never got above 28 degrees! The weather tamped down the attendance a bit, but there were still 500 runners that finished the 10K and ov

Lunch at Chow Yum - 70808, January 2026!
Had a great lunch at Chow Yum earlier this week! Chow Yum is a popular, but underrated restaurant located in the Overpass area of Mid-City Baton Rouge in 70808. It's tucked away just off of Perkins Rd and I forget it's there - which is a mistake as the food is just tremendous. All the dishes are hand crafted and they have a very flavorful menu - with an item or 2 for everyone's taste. Lunch service was packed by the time we were finished up and it was a random Wednesday tha

Back for another fantastic meal at Doe's Eat Place - 70806, December 2025!
Finished up another lunch with my Dad at Doe's Eat Place - it was so good 3 weeks ago, that we had to go back! Doe's is a long-time Baton Rouge restaurant located on Government Blvd in Mid-City. We started with a 1/2 order of tamales. Doe's has been serving their famous tamales since 1941 and man were they great. They really reminded me of what I grew up eating in Texas. All beef tamales with a spicy, deep flavored chili for a topping. My Dad got the fried shrimp po'boy

Thanksgiving Lunch with my Dad - 70809, November 2025!
We had a super Thanksgiving lunch with friends on Thursday and we didn't have to cook anything! My friend's son is finishing up his first semester of Law School in New Orleans so he came home for Thanksgiving and his parents put out an amazing spread - all home cooked! We had turkey, dressing & giblet gravy, sweet potato and mashed potato casserole, fresh cut green beans and a corn souffle. Dessert were a spread of pies from local bakeries. I brought Kim Crawford Prosecco a
