Lunch at Chow Yum - 70808, January 2026!
Had a great lunch at Chow Yum earlier this week! Chow Yum is a popular, but underrated restaurant located in the Overpass area of Mid-City Baton Rouge in 70808. It's tucked away just off of Perkins Rd and I forget it's there - which is a mistake as the food is just tremendous. All the dishes are hand crafted and they have a very flavorful menu - with an item or 2 for everyone's taste. Lunch service was packed by the time we were finished up and it was a random Wednesday tha

December & Total Year 2025 Running Update
It was a strong December for running as the weather really cooperated. I ended December 2025 with 92 miles which brought my year-end total miles to 1,018! After a kinda slow start to the year, I caught up and finished the year at my goal of 1,000 miles. I just purchased new HOKA running shoes in preparation for 2026 and the 3 races I'm registered to run in Q1! I've completed my race registrations for the 3 races I'm running in in 2026: Louisiana Marathon Quarter Marathon

Back for another fantastic meal at Doe's Eat Place - 70806, December 2025!
Finished up another lunch with my Dad at Doe's Eat Place - it was so good 3 weeks ago, that we had to go back! Doe's is a long-time Baton Rouge restaurant located on Government Blvd in Mid-City. We started with a 1/2 order of tamales. Doe's has been serving their famous tamales since 1941 and man were they great. They really reminded me of what I grew up eating in Texas. All beef tamales with a spicy, deep flavored chili for a topping. My Dad got the fried shrimp po'boy

Lunch with my Father at Doe's Eat Place - 70806, November 2025!
Finished up lunch with my Dad at Doe's Eat Place - first time there and guaranteed will NOT be my last! Doe's is a long-time Baton Rouge restaurant located on Government Blvd in Mid-City. They are known for their steaks and just general fantastic food. We started with Brussel Sprouts which were roasted to perfection. Just a touch of heat, but plenty of texture from the roasting. My father and I both ended up getting the Chicken Fried Steak. Being born and raised in Texa

St Joseph's Academy Soiree - October 2025, Baton Rouge 70808
St Joseph's Academy is one of the finest private schools in all of Baton Rouge. It is an all-girl Catholic School located in Mid-City Baton Rouge 70808. I recently had the pleasure of attending their premier annual fundraising event - the Soiree. It is a night of fun, dancing, live and silent auction bidding and great food and drink. This year set a record for funds raised at the Soiree - funds that are used to help fund the academic excellence at SJA. SJA has won numero
