My Dad turned 84 today and we celebrated in style at one of our favorite restaurants in Baton Rouge - Willie's on Coursey Dr. As you will see from the pictures of our lunch this place totally rocks!! First picture is the onion rings appetizer - expertly battered and fried and banging remoulade sauce for dipping.

Next picture is the fried fish entree - 4 fried shrimp, 3 fried catfish fillets, jalapeno hush puppies and french fries - just an amazing plate of food! And it came with a side salad (homemade ranch that didn't make it into the pictures)

Last picture is my lunch - gumbo fries with a side of macaroni & cheese. Couple of thoughts - this mac and cheese is the best restaurant mac and cheese that I've had. It's very similar to what I make at home. It's creamy, juicy, doesn't have 5 different kinds of cheese - its just like the cafeteria style food I had when I was a kid.
These gumbo fries are amazing as well. It's French fries covered in gumbo gravy and at least 2 kinds of cheese all melted and mixed together - it is AMAZING!
Best part about all this is we each will get a couple of meals out of this lunch - absolutely no what we could (or would want to) eat all this in one sitting!
Can't wait to celebrate my Dad's 85th birthday next year!
