Earlier this year I completed in my third consecutive Mardi Gras Mambo 10K which takes place in downtown Baton Rouge. This race is always run in conjunction with the Mardi Gras calendar and many runners dress up in pretty colorful Mardi Gras outfits to run!

This is a fun face the begins/ends in downtown Baton Rouge. We run out of downtown on North Blvd and have to run over an overpass over the railroad tracks to begin and end the race. The race winds through parts of the Garden District and Mid-City Baton Rouge - running down Park Ave, Perkins, Kleinert and Parker before turning around and heading back to downtown.

We have to run back OVER the overpass at about mile 5.5 of the race. I've found its actually more mentally challenging than physical to get back up the overpass and then down the otherside to the finish line. The after party is great - including the post race beer:)

This race is a 10K/15K combo featuring about 1200 runners. Once of these days I'm going to run the 15K, but not this year. My time was OK, but I finished in the top 17% or so of the 10K finishers. Ready for the 2026 race!

I'm planning on 4 races in 2026 - 3 repeats and a new race for me in New Orleans:

They are all great races - so much fun to run and with great post-race parties/events. Come join me!
