Lunch with my Father at Doe's Eat Place - 70806, November 2025!

Finished up lunch with my Dad at Doe's Eat Place - first time there and guaranteed will NOT be my last! Doe's is a long-time Baton Rouge restaurant located on Government Blvd in Mid-City. They are known for their steaks and just general fantastic food.

We started with Brussel Sprouts which were roasted to perfection. Just a touch of heat, but plenty of texture from the roasting. My father and I both ended up getting the Chicken Fried Steak. Being born and raised in Texas, I've had plenty of very good CFS over the years and this ranked right up at the very top of the best ever.

It was a HUGE piece of high quality sirloin steak that was breaded and deep fried to perfection. Served with creamy mashed potatoes and some superb white pepper gravy! I could only eat 1/2 so brought the other half home for dinner tomorrow night. I can't image who could sit down and plow through that entire place of CFS in one sitting:)

We'll definitely be back for lunch again. I've got my eye on the fried shrimp Po boy for my next lunch. Doe's definitely knows how to fry up food, so I'm guessing that the fried shrimp will be off the charts good - I'll be sure to write about it when we do it!

All in all - 5 star experience and highly recommend Doe's Eat Place!
