Every calendar year, the Louisiana Real Estate Commission requires all licensed agents/brokers to complete 12 hours of continuing education. One 4 hour class is mandatory for all licensees in the State of Louisiana and the remaining hours are elective courses that individual agents choose.

I completed my first 3 hour course earlier today and it was all about our mandatory purchase agreement and the changes that have been made for 2026. About every two years (sometimes every year!), the real estate commission makes edits/alterations to our purchase agreement, so it's always good to get this refresher course out of the way first thing in the year.

As a licensed real estate agent, I'm required to issue an offer on a house using this mandatory purchase agreement. It was a good, in-person class offered by the Greater Baton Rouge Board of Realtors as a benefit to our membership. I have the mandatory 4 hours class scheduled for February so I'll report back then!
