Capital Heights is one of the oldest and most sought after residential subdivisions in Baton Rouge. Centrally located in Mid-City BR, the subdivision is bounded by Acadian, Government St, Jefferson Highway and Claycut. It houses a charming mix of original, 80 year old homes, renovated and new constructions homes. Capital Heights Ave is a one-way street that runs the length of the subdivision and it has a dedicated biking/running section of the road which is very popular. Home prices in this subdivision can range from $250,000 - $800,000 and are primarily single family homes.
The picture above is a home that I listed and sold. My clients purchased the property which had a very old, run down farmhouse type house on the lot. They stripped it down to the 2 x 4's and roughly doubled the size of the house with an addition. The interior finish out was done very well so you had a very unique property in Capital Heights - a house with some of its 80 year old original character, but with a new construction feel and finish.
Living in Capital Heights puts you one block away from Government St which is loaded with restaurants, shopping, grocery stores and more! Some of my favorite businesses are: Spoke & Hub, Bistro Byronz, Calandro's, Curbside, Superior Grill, La Carretta, Jed's Local Po'boys, Reginelli's Pizzeria & Mid City Beer Garden.
