September 2023 Lunch at Mestizo!

Just finished up a lunch at one of the very best restaurants in all of Baton Rouge - Mestizo! It is a Louisiana/Mexican fusion cuisine restaurant that has never disappointed me. The quality of ingredients is top notch, the service is personable and professional and the ambiance inside is fantastic.

In addition, they have the best margaritas I've ever had. I'm originally from Texas and have had a LOT of margaritas in my life and these are hands down the best I've ever had. They use quality Tequila and the margarita mixers are real ingredients and not those sugary mixes that you get in so many places.

It's always fascinating for me to go in the restaurant and see how many regulars are there eating/drinking. The owner and his senior staff are making their way through the restaurant greeting guests by name and stopping at their tables to speak. And the owner - Jim - is often times back in the kitchen cooking which helps to explain why the food is so consistently excellent.
