April 2026 homes sales statistics for the Greater Baton Rouge area now available and our local residential housing market continues to chug along with positive numbers generally across the board! Median sales prices continue to increase and we continue to have increasing unit sales.


Our market - luckily - tends to be mostly consistent. We generally never see the huge dips that you see in many of the larger, coastal areas/states. Slow and steady is a good descriptor of our housing market.


April 2026 vs 2025 stats show:

  • 818 vs 806 homes sold

  • 1,292 vs 1,270 new listings

  • $276,950 vs $260,915 median sales price

  • 82 vs 81 days on market prior to the final sale

  • 4.3 vs 4.4 months supply of inventory


Year to date 2026 numbers continue to be very healthy as compared with the comparable period in 2025. The inventory supply continues to be below the 6 months threshhold that typically defines a health mix of buyers/sellers.


It remains a good time to buy and/or sell a home in the Baton Rouge area. There are deals to be had and sellers are becoming more and more responsive to contributing seller concessions as part of an offer.
