Big, Big, Big news out of Livingston Parish as it relates to flood insurance rates!

The Parish has been working since the 2016 floods to improve the drainage and water flow throughout the Livingston Parish for a multitude of reasons - not only to help protect the residents of the Parish from flooding but also to help mitigate and lower the flood insurance rates changed by FEMA/NFIP (National Flood Insurance Program).

All their hard work has paid off in the Livingston Parish is now carries a Class 7 rating which will cause ALL FEMA flood insurance premiums to DECREASE effective April 2026! New policies written in April will reflect the new premium rates and already existing policies that renew after April 2026 will enjoy the new discount structure.

It is estimated that this policy change will save Livingston Parish residents around $1,000,000 per year (recurring) in flood insurance premiums. That money can be redirected within the community or saved/invested by the individual homeowners.

Livingston Parish is not finished with the flood work as they are actively working to move the Parish up to a Class 5 rating which will add an additional 10% premium reduction - bringing the total premium reduction to 25%! That is real money in the pocket of the flood policy holders in the Parish.
