August 2023 Real Estate Sales in the Greater Baton Rouge Area!

August 2023 real estate sales numbers for the Greater Baton Rouge Area are in. A total of 939 properties were listed and sold in the Greater Baton Rouge Association of Realtors MLS valued at a touch over $253,000,000!

Sales increased in August from July slightly and while interest rates and constrained inventory in our local market continue to hamper home sales, there's still a ton of home buying and selling occurring!

I've added August 2022 numbers to the chart to show the differences in our real estate market over the last 12 months. The biggest number that jumps out to me is the average number of days a house is on the market before selling has DOUBLED to 62 days as compared to August 2022! Buyers and Sellers are still closing sales, it is just taking a bit longer than it has in the past.
